What is a Physician Assistant?
You may see a Physician Assistant (PA) during your visit — and we want you to know you’re in great hands!
A Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed medical professional who works as part of your healthcare team alongside your physician to provide high-quality care.
In Florida, PAs are highly trained clinicians who help diagnose, treat, and manage many health conditions.
Physician Assistants complete:
- A master’s degree from an accredited PA program
- Thousands of hours of clinical training
- A national certification exam
- Ongoing continuing education
They are licensed by the Florida Board of Medicine.
What PAs can do:
- Perform exams and take medical histories
- Diagnose and treat common conditions
- Order and review lab tests
- Prescribe medications
- Provide prenatal and postpartum support
- Perform various in-office procedures
- Assist in surgical procedures
- Offer education and answer your questions
PAs collaborate closely with our physicians, so your care is always team-based and personalized. Seeing a PA helps us offer more appointment availability and shorter wait times while maintaining the highest standard of care.
Your health and comfort are always our top priority here at Gulf Coast!
